Shari Keats, MS, RDN, CDN
I have always been passionate about food and nutrition and I say that there is always room on the shelf for another cookbook! After working on Wall Street and raising a family (we love to travel and hike!) I decided to follow my lifelong interest and pursue a new career in dietetics and nutrition. I received my Master of Science degree in Nutrition Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, where I focused on celiac disease. I conducted a research project with the Celiac Disease Center at Columbia University Medical Center exploring celiac disease and the screening of first degree relatives. I then completed my dietetic internship with Teachers College and participated in over 1200 hours of supervised practice in a variety of community and clinical settings. During my internship, I spent over 350 hours with dietitians specializing in celiac disease and digestive disorders.
Currently, I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Certified Dietetic Nutritionist in both New York and Connecticut. While I specialize in celiac disease and digestive health, I also have experience with all other dietary needs as part of my position as a Clinical Dietitian at Stamford Hospital, in Connecticut. There I provide nutrition counseling and education to a variety of patient populations with different disease states, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer.
I am a member of: Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, New York State Dietetic Association, Westchester Rockland Dietetic Association, Medical Nutrition Therapy Practice Group, Dietitians in Gluten and Gastrointestinal Disorders, and Nutrition Entrepreneurs Practice Group.
