Shari Keats, MS, RDN, CDN
I have always been passionate about food and nutrition and I say that there is always room on the shelf for another cookbook! After working on Wall Street and raising a family (we love to travel and hike!) I decided to follow my lifelong interest and pursue a new career in dietetics and nutrition. I received my Master of Science degree in Nutrition Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, where I focused on celiac disease. I conducted a research project with the Celiac Disease Center at Columbia University Medical Center exploring celiac disease and the screening of first degree relatives. I then completed my dietetic internship with Teachers College and participated in over 1200 hours of supervised practice in a variety of community and clinical settings. During my internship, I spent over 350 hours with dietitians specializing in celiac disease and digestive disorders.
I have a a Certificate of Training in Gluten Related Disorders from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and completed the Monash University 'Low FODMAP Diet for IBS' online training course for health professionals.
Currently, I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Certified Dietetic Nutritionist in both New York and Connecticut. While I specialize in celiac disease and digestive health, I also have experience with all other dietary needs as part of my previous position as a Clinical Dietitian at Stamford Hospital, in Connecticut. There I provided nutrition counseling and education to a variety of patient populations with different disease states, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer.
I am a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, New York State Dietetic Association, Westchester Rockland Dietetic Association, Medical Nutrition Therapy Practice Group, Dietitians in Gluten and Gastrointestinal Disorders, and Nutrition Entrepreneurs Practice Group.
